Our training programs, both classroom-based and behind-the-wheel, are designed to ensure that we bring on board only the most competent individuals. Each driver applicant undergoes a thorough face-to-face interview, a comprehensive driving skills evaluation, and a Motor Vehicle Record Review (MVR).

Our driver rewards and incentive schemes have played a significant role in retaining some of the industry’s most seasoned drivers, who align with Independent Coach’s unwavering quality and safety standards.

Our drivers receive extensive training in handling students, including proper and safe procedures for assisting special needs students, wheelchair securement, and proper use and installation of car seats and safety vests. They are also well-versed in emergency evacuation protocols.

We organize bi-annual refresher courses for all our drivers and strive to make these classes both engaging and enlightening. Our course content is meticulously curated, and our instructors are dedicated to delivering professional and memorable presentations.

At Independent Coach, we comply with all Federal, State, and Local safety regulations. Each of our drivers holds a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and our certified examiners ensure that all drivers are fully compliant with the 19-A requirements.

Onboard cameras and GPS tracking devices play a crucial role in improving our drivers’ skills, enhancing safety, and optimizing routes. Our vehicles can electronically transmit video and audio data to our clients when necessary.
Many of our vehicles come equipped with integrated child seats designed for special needs students. This feature increases safety and offers a more efficient process for boarding and alighting.

Every vehicle in our fleet is fitted with a Child Checkmate system to remind our drivers to check for any children left behind after each route. The system triggers a horn alarm if the driver fails to press the Child Checkmate button located at the back of the bus.

These devices allow us to randomly monitor our drivers’ adherence to traffic rules and serve as a deterrent to unsafe driving practices. All recorded footage complies with our clients’ policies and can be released for review upon request.

Equipped with advanced GPS and routing software, our buses provide efficient and timely service. In addition, our dispatchers can track the whereabouts and speed of all our vehicles at any given moment.

Many of our buses have rooftop strobe lights for enhanced visibility during poor weather conditions or low light, preventing potential collisions and unauthorized pass-bys.
